“Ravi’s songwriting retreat was a big part of my motivation to make music my full-time career.  It made me realize that the fear of missing out on doing what I love was greater than the fear of not making it.  Now I am living my dream.” – Paolo Benjamin, Ben & Ben, Philippines

You will experience the power and productivity of Ravi’s award winning 1-2-3 Songwriting method (and get your own personal copy of his video course to keep forever).  In addition, you will gain valuable insight about having a career in the arts (Ravi has taught artist-entrepreneurship at Berklee College of Music in Boston MA USA, Saint Petersburg Drama Academy in Russia, etc.) and how music can be used as a form of cultural diplomacy (Ravi serves as a cultural diplomat for the United States Department of State).

Teacher: Ravi Hutheesing (USA)

Ravi Hutheesing is a musician and international keynote speaker who unites cultures and generations. His worldwide visibility skyrocketed as the guitarist for triple Grammy nominee, Hanson, whose massive fan base of the earliest millennials catapulted him to the stages of the White House, Madison Square Garden, Tonight Show, Good Morning America, and Saturday Night Live. Simon & Schuster published his memoir, Dancin’ with Hanson, and he has authored over a hundred articles for major magazines. He also speaks globally on behalf of the music industry at conventions including the National Association of Music Merchants in California, MusikMesse in Moscow, and Music China in Shanghai.

Ravi began serving as a cultural diplomat for the US Department of State in 2015, giving presentations on entrepreneurship and youth leadership in Russia. In 2016, he went to Indonesia—the world’s largest Muslim population—and created songwriting and cultural entrepreneurship programs that bridged the most severe cultural and religious divides, and in 2017, he created similar programs in Iraq and Lebanon which included students from Mosul liberated from ISIS just days earlier, and Syrians from the decimated city of Aleppo.

In 2018, Ravi launched Ravi Unites Schools—a growing network of over 100 schools worldwide that participate in real-time audio-video interactions between student groups, hosted by Ravi. He believes that such exchanges promote world peace by enabling youth to bond naturally across geographical and socioeconomic boundaries rather than to succumb to implicit biases formed by institutional agendas. The idea was born out of his ten-year partnership with Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project in India—a highly successful boarding school providing a holistic upbringing in a high quality setting for the poorest of the poor

We will do all that we can to ensure that everybody is comfortable while staying at Curaumilla. There are also available private rooms if requested.

We will also serve plenty of salads, cereals, fruit and vegetables. Bottled water will be provided, and additional beverages, including Chilean Pisco Sours, wines, beer, sodas will be available for purchase.

Chile is a safe country to travel around. The people are warm and friendly to tourists. Do not bring expensive jewelry, and take normal precautions with your money and your passport.

Climate

Chile is a very long country with many different climates.

Curaumilla is located in the middle of the country on the Pacific coast. Curaumilla has a year round temper climate. The winters are rainy and the summers are dry.

The workshops happen during spring and summer seasons. Chile has opposite seasons from North America.

In October the weather is nice. The usual temperature is 18°C (64ºF). The minimum temperature of the station is 13°C (55ºF). Therefore, the average temperature for this month of October in Valparaiso is 17ºC (62ºF) it will be usually sunny days. Cloudy days can feel a little chilly.

In January and February, the Chilean summer, days are hot with cool nights. The averages temperatures are 22.5ºC (72.50ºF) high and 13.3ºC (55.94ºF) low.

Sunny days can be hot (around 80ºF), and cloudy days can feel a little chilly.

Often in spring and summer it’s foggy or cloudy in the mornings, and warm and sunny in the afternoons, but some days are very very windy. And can be a little cold….

Medical Information

This trip is organized as an adventure workshop. We will do everything possible to keep you safe and comfortable. Ultimately it is your responsibility to stay healthy and well.

Chile is a modern country with up to date health standards and services.  However at some point during the trip, you may feel a little off or tired. This is to be expected, it is normal for your body when experiencing a new culture and country.

It is recommended that get travelers insurance.  Most travelers insurance is cheap with coverage for transportation and cancellation costs.

In the event of an emergency, there is very good health service in both Valparaiso and Santiago.

To stay healthy, you need to be cautious with water and food. Do not drink any tap water or ice. Fruit is very good in Chile and we have a lot of varieties. You can eat any fruit that is peeled or washed properly. Cooked food is usually OK.

Please feel free to discuss with us any health issues that might concern you.
